 Trivandrum
is the capital of the beautiful state of
Kerala and has been rechristened as Thiruvanathapuram.
But for all practical purposes Trivandrum
and Thiruvananthapuram are same. The city
is famous for its beauty and is one of the
storehouses of art and culture in the state.
Despite being the capital of the state it
cannot be accounted as a commercial hub.
The place is nor very crowded and has a
lot of tourist destinations to its credit.
A lot of political activity takes place
here are there are many famous leaders emerging
from the city periodically.
The city of Trivandrum has a lot to offer
for the tourists. Here are prominent beaches,
temples, mosques, shopping centers, mosques
and so on. Some of the important sites include
the Kovalam Beach which is about 16 km from
the town, the Koyikkal palace which has
a variety of beautiful artifacts to its
credit, the Padmanabha Swamy temple, which
is highly regarded by Hindus and is famous
for its religious significance and architectural
beauty. The hill station of Ponmudi is enchanting
and attracts many a visitors. Also the Napier
museum is much loved by tourists.
The best period to visit Trivandrum and
for that matter Kerala is from the months
of October to March. As the region takes
a tropical climate these months are comparatively
convenient. The language Spoken here is
Malayalam though English, Hindi and Tamil
can also be used.
Trivandrum is well connected from all parts
of the country. The Trivandrum airport has
frequent flights to most of the major cities.
The railways station is also well connected
and there are trains connecting it from
cities across the country. Road services
are also up to the mark.
