 Kerala
has a long coastline. There are a number
of exotic beaches in Kerala that opens into
the Arabian Sea. They form a major source
of tourist attraction.
Alappuzha Beach is a popular backwater
destination. The Alapuzha beach is best
known for its annual boat race. The boat
race is called Nehru Trophy boat race.
Cherai Beach - Cherai Beach is in
Ernakulum district and gets its name from
the Cherai village which is part of the
Vypin Island. It’s about 30 km from
Kochi and hence easily accessible.
The Dharmadam Island beach is near
the Kannur town and was supposed to have
been a Buddhist monastery earlier. Beautiful
coconut groves and a huge rock protruding
into the sea are the main features of this
beach.
Ezhimala beach is located 55 km from
Kannur. The s fascinating sculptured stone
pillars scattered all over the beach, an
ancient mosque on a hill nearby etc are
main features of this beach. Buddha is said
to have visited this beach.
