country. The local language is Malayalam
An outsider can manage with English here
as it is widely spoken and understood. Hindi
is part of the school curriculum and hence

by the coexistence of several religions
namely Hinduism, Islam and Christianity.
Kerala is a top tourist destination of the
country, tourism being one of the important
industries of the country .Kerala is also
one of the frontrunners in the export of
tea, coffee spices and other coconut products.
Kerala has a huge marine wealth and therefore
are also frontrunners in the export of several
types of fish like prawns, sardines and
the likes.
The population of Kerala is mainly employed
in Government services and individual businesses.
Of late there have been great advances in
the field of IT which are largely centered
on the towns of Kochi and Tiruvananthapuram.
However Kerala is yet to see any major industrial
development as it is hit by frequent strikes
and protests which mar the day to day business
activities. This is one of the reasons for
a huge number of Keralites working in other
parts of the country and abroad in search
of greener pastures. One of the important
sources of wealth of the state can be accorded
to the Keralites in Gulf who form a major
part of the Kerala economy.
